The 4th of July is right around the corner and I have a new glue gun, so I thought I’d combine the two and get my craft on.
A couple of months ago, I bought a stash of red, white, and blue buttons from Michaels. I’ve had these tucked away, waiting until I had enough time to do something with them. And then when I had the time, I couldn’t find them anywhere, because that is how I roll.
But once the buttons were back in my possession (found them in my box of crafting supplies, which further proves my theory that there’s no point in putting things away, ever, because they still get lost), I immediately put them to good use on this *super* easy DIY wreath.
You guys, this was so easy. Claire even helped me out by sorting buttons and helping me find the big ones or the little ones as I needed them. Here’s what you need to make this easy DIY wreath.
This post contains affiliate links.
- Wooden craft ring – I would use a smaller (12″) one next time, like I have for my other wreaths (see bottom of post for links to these, they’re AWESOME)
- Glue gun or crafting glue (I actually think the crafting glue might be easier – although there’s a longer dry time, it’s nice to be able to move the buttons around before they dry)
- Buttons (lots of them)
- Ribbon to hang with
- White paint (or whatever color you’d like to paint the ring)
Then, apply buttons. Leave one hole uncovered to hang your wreath – you’ll simply slide your ribbon through the hole and tie a little bow.
Once the wreath is dry. you can hang it. Easy peasy.
This whole project took me about 30 minutes, and that is with a three-year-old helping me!
And I have more easy DIY wreaths where this comes from. I know you won’t be making these now, but if you want to look at them for later – here’s my candy heart wreath and here is my candy corn wreath. I triple heart love both of these creations, and you can get an idea for how they look with the smaller craft ring.

I Love this! Totally doing this with the kids!
They will love it. I’m thinking about letting the kids each make their own and just using regular craft glue so they can pretty much do the whole thing themselves.
Very cute idea and just in time for the 4th! Thanks for sharing!
I stopped by from Showcase Your Talent Thursday!
That is adorable – what a great way to use up extra buttons!! 🙂
Such a cute wreath! I love all the buttons 🙂
