I’ve partnered with Firewheel Town Center in Garland, Texas, to bring some news about Tax-Free Weekend and Back to School sales. All opinions are my own!
If one things signals “back-to-school” in Texas, it’s tax-free weekend. And tax-free weekend is coming – this year, it takes place August 11-13th.
From Friday, August 11th through Sunday, August 13th, retailers are not required to collect tax on back-to-school items such as footwear, clothing, backpacks and school supplies prices less than $100.
You can see a full list of eligible expenses here.
If your school requires uniforms and you’re not sure what to buy, you can find a list of local school requirements at Simon Guest Services.
Friday, August 11 – 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday, August 12 – 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday, August 13 – 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
* Department store hours may vary
And bring the kids! If you’re shopping on August 12th, join in the fun with the Back to School Bash, taking place in the Park (you know the one – with the train your kids are always begging to ride!). The event will be full of food trucks, posicles, beverages, face painting and more end-of-summer fun.
I’ve already done a big chunk of my back-to-school shopping. Claire and I hit the mall with a plan (leggings, shoes, and backpack) and walked away successful.
We ended up buying leggings at Crazy 8 (I swear, they always have the best deals…and everything is so cute!).
Bright colors are HOT right now, and that made shopping super fun…we’re definitely into the color around here. The other day Claire said to me, “You KNOW rainbow is my favorite color, right?!” and I was like, yessssssss.
We also swung into DSW to pick up some shoes (why do their feet grow so quickly?!).
Bring on first grade.
