I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Reebok. I received a Famous Footwear gift card to purchase a pair of Reebok shoes to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.
You may have seen my recent posts about completing the Couch to 5K training program. Over the last several months, I’ve been jogging consistently (for the first time in over five years) and recently, I finished the program. In my world, this is a Big Deal.
I don’t really like running, and it’s not really something I’m good at. I make a conscious decision to keep running every single step. I wish I could say it’s something I love, but truly? I don’t.
But, I do love the way I feel afterward. And I love that I can pack a huge workout (you guys, jogging takes a LOT out of me) into a relatively short amount of time. And I love that I’m doing something good for me…and that I’m overcoming the voices in my head that are constantly telling me to quit.
I promised myself that when I completed the C25K program, I’d reward myself with a new pair of running shoes.
And then I completed it…but I didn’t get the shoes. Shoes are expensive! I just kept running in my old ones (which, for the record, were well over $100 and hurt my feet for the first several weeks).
Mama got new shoes.
I bought these Reeboks from Famous Footwear, and I will admit I was reluctant to buy running shoes (or any shoes, for that matter) online. I wondered if it would be best to visit a store and try them on before purchasing. The problem with going to an actual store was that I would probably have two little ones with me (and we all know how helpful small children are when you’re shopping for yourself…) and that the inventory is limited (versus alllll the shoes available online).
When I read that I could return the shoes at my nearest Famous Footwear store if I didn’t like them, I was sold.
OH. And they were on sale. They were only $56 – less than half of what I paid for my previous pair of shoes!
I received confirmation that the shoes had shipped out the next day, and just a couple of days after that I had my new shoes in my possession.
I needn’t have worried! They fit! I ordered them in my size – an 8 – rather than sizing up (as I sometimes see recommended for running shoes), and this was a good choice as I find them to be true to size. The shoes are so lightweight and flexible, I was worried they wouldn’t offer enough support – but after wearing them, I don’t think I’ll go back to “normal” shoes – I appreciate how streamlined and airy these shoes are!
It’s been years since I last bought a pair of Reeboks, but I would buy another pair in a heartbeat. In fact, I did buy another pair.
Famous Footwear was having a buy one/get one half off sale, so, I purchased a second pair (these ones for walking and non-running workouts, like Tae-bo).
My kids love these shoes – they’re really bright, and Jack loves anything blue. I love them because they are comfy and will be perfect for walking and working out. I also love them because with the sale, they ended up costing only $28.33. The only thing I don’t love about them is the blue/orange/pink camo around the bottom of the shoe (Jack, however, thinks this is awesome).
My total was $101 – but if you sign up for the Famous Footwear newsletter, you get a coupon for $5 off. The final total was $96 and I had both pairs of shoes in my possession within 3-4 days. I also joined the rewards program, which means I’ll get credit for all purchases I make – I can apply the rewards to future purchases.
I’m happy with my purchase and love lacing up these bright and cheery shoes for my daily workouts.
