I have always been an almond eater! Thank you to California Almonds for sponsoring this post about all the benefits of almonds on the go.
Snacks are my obsession. I just love them. All day. Every day. In all formats. The crunchier/saltier/sweeter…the better.
One healthy snack I do love (and it’s crunchy!) is almonds. I love them roasted, and will often roast them myself (it’s so easy, y’all). But I also like to eat whole natural almonds.
I’ve always loved the way they taste, but as I’ve grown older I appreciate that whole natural almonds are good for me, and also less expensive than other options. And they’re so versatile…eat them plain, toss them on a salad, mix them up with some raisins…super easy for lazy snack eaters like myself.
With summer here (can you even believe it…!), I am on to go more than ever. Between the kids’ activities, visiting my horse at the barn, road trips, work, and all the other places I have to go…I feel like I am always in the car or away from home. And you guys probably know I try to follow the 21 Day Fix eating plan, which means I also try to avoid eating out when possible. And that requires some planning!
Here’s my go-to summer bag. This little bag holds everything I need as I’m out and about. I can easily transfer it to my backpack or toss into any purse.
Pro tip: keeping all of my necessities in one little bag also makes for a much cleaner and more organized purse.
Here’s what it includes:
- Whole natural almonds (several baggies of them!)
- Pen or pencil
- Earbuds (podcasts, yo)
Almonds are fantastic because they taste great, but they’re also packed with protein, fiber and good fat. They fit into most eating plans. They are a quick, easy and nutritious choice for the 21 Day Fix, but my husband, who’s following a ketogenic eating plan, can also eat them. YAY.
They are also an excellent source of vitamin E and magnesium.
And…they’re kid-friendly. When I have baggies of almonds in my purse or car, the kids and I both have something to snack on that will fill us up until it’s time for our next meal.
Are you an almond lover, too? How do you like your almonds?
