With all of the food posts I’ve done lately, you guys are going to think I like cooking or something! I actually don’t. Like, at all. But I love to eat and I have excellent delegating skills, so…I always have ideas for great food that my husband can make! 😉
This morning was no exception (except for the Sugar Butter…that was all me – more on that later!).
We were at Market Street last week, getting dinner as we occasionally do (the kids beg for the Mac & Cheese), when I took a peek at the Artisan breads and thought, “HEY! That would make some amazing french toast. I should totally have Charles make me some!”
And so, I did. {And for the record, I can actually make french toast…but Charles has some serious chef skills so I usually recruit him whenever possible}
Market Stree has some ahhh-mazing Artisan bread to choose from. We decided on Cinnamon Chunk, because I knew it would be perfect with the Sugar Butter I had whipped up earlier in the day. I mean, look at how good it looks straight out of the bag.
Delicious toasted with butter, this bread is a winner. But turned into french toast and smothered in Sugar Butter, it’s out of this world. And I don’t say that lightly.
The great thing about Sugar Butter, besides the actual Sugar Butter, is that it’s the *perfect* gift for friends and neighbors. At just around $2 per serving, it’s inexpensive. It’s SUPER easy to make (remember when I said I made this?), and I promise you everyone will love it. Unless they avoid dairy and sugar, in which case, you might look for something else to give them. But for everyone else? Give them this. Trust me.
I remember my mom making this for me when I was a kid. She’d serve it on toast, pancakes, english muffins, french toast. The recipe was passed down from my great-grandmother, who didn’t want to share the recipe with my mom because it was kind of her specialty. So today I share it with the Internet, but with good intentions…you need this in your life.
Here’s what you need:
- 1 lb butter, softened
- 1 lb powdered sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon (I used more like two, though)
Mix with an electric mixer. It’s best served when it’s soft, but you’ll want to refrigerate it because if it gets too warm the butter and powdered sugar will separate.
And because it’s always more fun when it’s personalized, I made some fun printable labels that you can use. Click on the image below to get your labels!

If you make this, I really hope you love it!
