This post is sponsored by AMC Theaters. I can’t wait to share the new AMC upgrades and this fun chance to win a $50 AMC gift card with you!
We moved to Texas in August of 2004 (if you’re doing the math, that means we just celebrated our 13th Texasversary, which is totally a thing!). We moved to a rural town east of Dallas, and the closest “big city” (which was 45 minutes away) was Mesquite. So, we often came into Mesquite for restaurants, shopping, etc. The first movie I ever saw in Texas was at the AMC Theater in Mesquite.
So it seemed fitting that we celebrated our 13th Texasversary at that very theater (AMC Dine-In Mesquite 30 – it’s been upgraded a bit since our first visit!)…this time, with kids!I remember the first time I ever saw a movie in a “stadium theater” – I swore I’d never go back to regular movie theaters again. And that’s kind of how I feel about dine-in theaters, like the AMC Dine-In Mesquite 30. I don’t know why I’d ever go back to a regular movie theater again (again!).
The theater has been recently remodeled, and was quite a bit different (and felt a lot bigger!) than the last time I was there.
We ordered our tickets online. We were able to pick our seats in advance, which I like…that way I know where we’re going to sit and don’t get anxiety over getting to the theater on time (I honestly feel like I’m late if I miss the previews…and walking into a crowded theater and hoping for seats together totally stresses me out).
But the real kicker is that you can order food from the theater. As in, push a button and have food (or drinks…!!) delivered to you while you watch a movie. That is legit magic.
You guys, I love going to the movies. I always have. When I was younger, there was a time when I would have seen every movie that was playing and be anxiously awaiting new releases. If 18-Year-Old-Movie-Going Me could see 39-Year-Old-Movie-Going Me, I would be very, very, very excited about my movie-going future (except the part where I have grey hair and 90% of the movies I see are rated G and made for kids).
Now, I can go to the movies, sit in the seat I picked out before we arrived, order food from the theater, and even enjoy some adult beverages while we’re there. WHAT IS THIS LIFE.
Not all theaters have in-theater dining service, but you can pick up your food at the dining area and take it with you into any theater. The same goes for drinks. And of course, you can wait in line for candy and popcorn just like you’re used to (if you are a Stubs Premium member, which costs $15/year and which I joined, you can bypass the long lines for food, too).
Now for the fun part – I am super excited to be giving away a $50 gift certificate to AMC theaters.
