Update! I’ve added Instant Pot instructions to this 21 Day Fix turkey meatballs recipe!
“I’m pretty picky with my meatballs, let alone “Turkey Meatballs ” and these Meatballs were Awesome!!! Thank you so much.” – Tracey
This is my new favorite turkey meatball recipe. I mean, I really, really love these. I am super picky and I don’t like eating leftover meat (it weirds me out), but I ate these for days…and gladly. So I think you’re going to like this 21 Day Fix Turkey Meatballs with garlic and parmesan, too…they are packed with flavor.
{updated: I’ve added Weight Watchers points at the bottom of this post!}
Ground turkey is so versatile – you can use it for tacos, chili, egg roll in a bowl (yum!) and turkey burgers. We put turkey to good use in these family-friendly meatballs.
My kids even ate them, despite their loud protests of, “There’s green stuff in these, I’m not eating them!!” We made each child take a bite, and guess what? They both agreed that they were good..Claire even asked for them in her lunch the next day.
21 Day Fix Turkey Meatballs
These meatballs freeze amazingly well, so if you have time, you can double or even triple this recipe and freeze them for later. You can also make them larger, but the container counts are based on making 24 meatballs (4 per serving). Serve over whole wheat spaghetti or even better, zoodles…and you’re good to go!
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 25-30 minutes
Serves: 6 (if you make 24 meatballs and have 4 per serving)
Can I have these meatballs on WW?
Yes! These meatballs are WW friendly, and I’ve included WW points.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups sugar-free tomato sauce
- 2 lbs ground, lean turkey breast (we used 93% lean for these)
- 1 large (or 2 small) eggs
- grated parmesan cheese – reserve 1/4 cup for topping
- fresh oregano leaves
- fresh basil leaves, chopped
- parsley, chopped
- garlic, finely minced
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 cup chicken broth or water, only if you’re making in the Instant Pot (see full Instant Pot directions at the bottom of this post)
Optional: additional tomato sauce, parmesan cheese and fresh basil for serving.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper, or spray with canola oil.
Pour half of the tomato sauce into a 9×13 glass baking dish and spread in a thin layer to cover the bottom. Set aside.
In a large glass bowl, add ground turkey, eggs, 1 1/4 cups parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, parsley, garlic, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Thoroughly combine the mixture with your hands and divide it into 24 equal-sized portions.
Gently roll each portion into a ball and place on a prepared baking sheet, leaving room between each meatball. Place baking sheet in preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes.
Remove from oven and transfer meatballs to prepared baking dish. Spoon remaining sauce over meatballs and sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup parmesan cheese.
Place baking dish in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until sauce and meatballs are heated through. Remove from oven and serve immediately.
Garnish with fresh parsley.

And there you have it – my favorite meatballs!
The 21 Day Fix program is always changing, and while I do my very best and never want to mess up (perfectionist, yo) please always double-check the container counts yourself…and that goes for all recipes, not just mine – I’ve seen some super shady ones out there!
21 Day Fix container counts, per serving:
- 1.5 red
- .33 green (purple if your tomato sauce has added sugar)
- 1 blue
Weight Watchers SmartPoints: 4 points per serving
INSTANT POT DIRECTIONS (this recipe is based on a 6 qt Instant Pot):
(ingredients are the same, but you’ll also need one cup of chicken broth or water)
Prepare meatballs the same way.
Add 1 cup of chicken broth (water is fine too) to your Instant Pot. Add half of the sauce to the pot. Then, add the meatballs to the sauce. It’s okay if they’re stacked up. Add the remaining sauce to the top of the meatballs.
Set your release valve to seal and lock the lid in place, and then turn on manual for 8 minutes. Once done, let the pot naturally release (or at release for 10 minutes before releasing the valve).
Carefully open your pot and scoop out your meatballs. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over your meatballs.
Enjoy!
Just to clarify 2 meatballs = 2 reds?? I am confused . . . seems like a lot of reds for just two meatballs, but maybe my pre-holiday brain isn’t computing very well!
This recipe looks amazing! Making it tonight. One question tho,, I could not find any sauce w no added sugar. I bought cento organic San Marzano tomatoes and I believe it has 4g of sugar per 28oz can. Are you referring to jarred sauces that have more sugar? I couldn’t for the life of me find anything can or jar that’s 100% sugar free. Thanks.
Hi Jen! Sorry I didn’t get back to you before you made this! How did it turn out? I buy jarred sauce with no added sugar…it will still have some naturally occuring sugars in it, but it’s not added. Do you have a Kroger near you? They have a store brand that is no added sugar, and it’s so good!
Hey these look great! Do you serve them alone? Or Over pasta? What “sides” go well? Thanks 🙂
I see now that you posted that already – whole wheat pasta or zoodles! Thanks!
They’re also great to eat on their own with a side of roasted veggies! 🙂
You said these freeze well and I lov eprelping ahead of time. Would you recommend freezing before or after cooking?
I feel like you could do either, but I freeze after cooking. 🙂
Would you recommend freezing without the sauce, or with?
I usually freeze leftovers with the sauce. You could do without though!
What are the cooking instructions for meatballs that have been frozen?
I always freeze them after I’ve baked them.
To defrost, you can stick them in the fridge overnight and then heat in the oven or microwave. Or, just stick the ones you want to reheat in the microwave for about minutes.
If you wanted to use dried herbs, how much would you recommend?
If you use dried herbs use 1/3 of what the recipe suggests. If it calls for 3 tbsp of parsley, use 1 tbsp of the dried 🙂
I made these today with dried herbs and it came out great! Just wanted to follow up!
I’m so sorry – I’m behind on emails and I totally missed your earlier comments! I’m so glad it worked out…thanks for sharing what worked! These are my favorite meatballs and I’m so glad you liked them. 🙂
These were some of the best meatballs I have ever had AND they are also fix approved?!?! These will be made again and again.
YAY! So glad you liked them!
Thank you so much for letting me know…no one’s caught that before! One serving is 4 meatballs. I’ve updated the post!
I’m pretty picky with my meatball, not alone “Turkey Meatballs ” and these Meatballs were Awesome!!! Thank you so much.
I’m so glad you liked them! I love them too, and I’m also picky meatball eater! I actually have made these with beef several times too and I prefer the turkey.
For the IP method, do you still bake these in the oven first? Or is all of the cooking done in the IP?
It’s all done in the IP! Super easy! 🙂
I just calculated this using only 1.5 pounds 93% ground turkey and made 30 meatballs instead of 24. Even that way, it is most definitely NOT 1 point per meatball for blue. Mine shows up as 2 pinpoints per meatball, or 6 points for 4. And I made more meatballs with less meat. So, clearly you have miscalculated.
Thanks for letting me know!
What a delicious dish!!! I served this with quinoa spaghetti, we loved it! It was perfect for the 21 day fix.
So glad you liked it! This is one of my very favorites. They freeze really well too if you have any leftovers!
Was going to try recipe until I saw sodium content!! These are half your salt intake for the day. I don’t find that healthy
Ok! You can reduce the sodium by not adding any salt and using a low sodium tomato sauce.
This was really good and simple. I didn’t havee fresh basil so I used spinach (just because it was green). I will try again with fresh basil. Also used plain ol’ Kraft parmesan. The clean up was so easy. I love the technique of a bit of oil & a cup of tomato sauce.

Just to clarify something, with Sodium at 1190mg , this is not a healthy option for anyone. One serving would have over half the daily recommendation for sodium. Please be cautious when sharing recipes of this nature and suggesting that they would be good for someone’s health.
Hi Cathy! I actually don’t use the word “healthy” in this post. I believe that we can all decide what is good for us or not. If this has too much sodium for you I definitely reommend finding a lower sodium option. 🙂
For future readers concerned about sodium, you can reduce the sodium in this recipe by not adding any extra salt and using a low sodium tomato sauce. You can also swap out some of the parmesan for mozzarella, which is a naturally lower sodium option than the the parm.
Hi Carrie, The following comes from the 21 Day Fix page. Since on your recipe you note the 21 Day Fix it seemed logical to believe it was a healthy recipe: “The 21 Day Fix program encourages healthy eating and emphasizes fresh produce, lean proteins and healthy fats….”
Cathy, and I thought about it and you are right. I have added information on how to reduce the sodium in this recipe to the notes section of the recipe card. Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it! 🙂
