I received an outfit from Ellie to review for this post.
Update on 6/30/2013: I’ve been wearing my Ellie top consistently now for the last two months and it looks good as new! Ellie has also added size XL to their line of great workout clothes…this is great for someone like me who squeezes into the size Large pants!
My workout attire mostly consists of old t-shirts and cheap workout pants from Target.
It’s not that I want to wear ugly workout clothes. It’s just that it’s hard to justify the cost when I know I’ll only be wearing them to sweat in, and when my company at the gym consists of other moms (in similar attire) and old people who exercise in jeans and button-up shirts with fanny packs. So, even though I wear ugly shirts and pants that chafe and don’t stay up, I’ve been reluctant to splurge on anything fancier.
Also, my gym has this weird rule that you must wear sleeves – you can’t show your armpits, I guess? So, I’ve (sadly) embraced my dumpy gym attire and taken the opportunity to get my money’s worth out of the old and overpriced concert t-shirts I have hanging around in my closet.
When I had a chance to try out an outfit from Ellie, I jumped all over it – cute workout clothes!
Ellie is a company that has designed workout attire that is cute, functional, and high quality. You can buy clothes from Ellie whenever you need something new, or you can subscribe – for $49.95 a month, you’ll get to pick out two pieces a month. These can be two shirts, two pairs of pants, or a pair of pants and a shirt…it’s up to you (and for not much more than you’d spend on an outfit at Target, you get something super cute and high quality!).
I chose both in a size large – I was worried the pants wouldn’t fit (large fits 8-10 and my pant size is closer to a 10-12). It is a stretch (umm, literally), but the pants are super stretchy and do fit. That said, I’ll probably wait until I shed a few pounds before wearing them to work out, even though the fabric seems more than strong enough to hold it all in!
The tank is also a large, and it fits me perfectly. I love it. It has a built-in bra, and this might be enough for many of you – for me, I wear another bra underneath, but I even need to do that with my sports bras (30 extra pounds and birthing and nursing two children will do that to you, I guess). Normally, I wear a cami or a stretchy tank under my t-shirt if I’m jogging to hold in the jiggle – this has taken the place of my normal tank and OMG I LOVE THIS TOP.
It’s perfect – it smooths everything down and holds it all in place and doesn’t ride up when I’m jogging. And then, when I get home and am allowed to show my armpits again (so weird, right?!), I can wear it around the house. I also love this shirt for yoga (and don’t need an extra bra underneath for that), and I love the cute little cutout in the back!
So, in a nutshell – I love Ellie! They have some super cute stuff for sale right now, and you can take 20% off your purchase if you sign up now.
Peace, love, and cute workout clothes for all!
