So. Who wants some whole food, dairy-free ice cream? I DO. Chellie from Art from My Table is sharing this recipe with us today, and you guys? It’s 21 Day Fix-friendly. That’s right. 21 Day Fix ice cream. Enjoy (and head over to Chellie’s blog for more 21 Day Fix-compatible recipes).

Do you ever crave something sweet, but it’s just not worth the calories?  Or, maybe it is, but then you feel kind of guilty because you ‘messed up’ your diet?  Hold on to your hats friends, because today, I’m bringing you a guilt free ice cream! This Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream is DIVINE!

21 Day Fix Ice Cream

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Ice Cream

Made with frozen bananas, and a few all natural ingredients, your sweet tooth will be satisfied! Have you seen these ‘banana ice cream’ recipes?  I was pretty curious whether or not it really tasted like ice cream.

21 Day Fix Ice Cream

Actually, a few years ago, I tried it.  Just frozen bananas in the food processor.  I thought it would be fun to tell my kids they were having ice cream for breakfast.  I just wanted to be a fun mom for once (anyone else ever feel that way?). So, we made it, and it was good.  The kids thought they were eating ice cream, and while I thought it was good, probably banana flavored ice cream wouldn’t be my first choice.

21 Day Fix Ice CreamFast forward, and I’m seeing these recipes all over the internet.  So I think, hmmm, I know it’s good but how can I ramp it up a bit, make it more like actual ice cream but still without all the sugar and unhealthy ingredients.

So, here you have it.  Chocolate peanut butter banana ice cream.  Friends, I can’t even explain how much we loved this.  So you have to try it!  I have a thing for chocolate.  And peanut butter actually. So this was the perfect flavor for me.  But I have to say it totally inspired me to try some other flavors too.  Strawberry, cherry, mango, peach…the possibilities are endless.

21 Day Fix Ice Cream

What you need~

  • Frozen bananas
  • Almond milk
  • Cocoa powder
  • Peanut butter
  • Honey

What to do~

  • Place the bananas, almond milk, cocoa powder, peanut butter and honey into a food processor or High powered blender such as a Vitamix or Blend Tec.
  • Blend until smooth
  • For soft serve, serve immediately, for more of a hard ice cream texture, freeze.

See how easy that is?

21 Day Fix Ice Cream

Notes~

  • The bananas may only need a couple hours to freeze, but I left mine in overnight
  • Ripe bananas are best, but they don’t have to be brown.
  • When you first mix the ice cream, it will be more of a soft serve consistency.  If you like a firmer ice cream, then place it in the freezer for a few hours after blending.
  • I’m in love with my Vitamix, I have one just like this.  A food processor works great too if you don’t have a Vitamix or Blend Tec.  Definitely use a food processor over a regular blender.

Make up some Chocolate peanut butter banana ice cream today so you will be ready when that sweet craving appears.

Your spoon is waiting.

21 Day Fix container counts:

Makes 8 one scoop servings.

Creamy silky chocolate ice cream. You won't believe there is no dairy in here!
Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 4 bananas cut into thirds, frozen
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 4 Tablespoons peanut butter
  • 2 Tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 Tablespoon honey

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients into a high powered blender such as a vitamix, or into a food processor.
  • Blend until smooth.
  • For firmer ice cream, place in a container and freeze for a few hours.

Notes

Container counts: 1 purple, 3 tsp (peanut butter) and less than 1 sugar tsp (honey).
To reduce your teaspoon count, reduce peanut butter in total recipe from 4 TBS to 3 TBS...this will make your teaspoons right around 2.

This looks delish!! I happen to have all of these items in the kitchen, guess I’ll be making some tonight:)

I’d love it for you to share this on my weekly link party, it goes live tomorrow at 6PM:)

I’m so excited that it’s ice cream season again! I’ve already made for batches in the past few weeks…two coconut brownie, pink rhubarb, and butterfinger. I’m a crazy woman!!! I love this recipe for it’s simple and healthy ingredients…after four batches of full-fat ice cream, I think a healthier version should be next!

Colleen, those all sound SO amazing!! I didn’t think this tasted ‘healthy’ at all. Just like the real thing! You can use regular milk too if you want.

Can you use a nutribullet?

I haven’t tried it, but I don’t see why not. You just want blend it up! 🙂

Thank you for adding this delicious recipe to last week’s Tasty Tuesday, we had another great turn out! I have pinned your recipes to the Tasty Tuesday Pinterest board. I hope you’ll join us again this weekend.

Thank you Ashley!

What r the serving sizes, what container is it

I’m not sure exactly, but I would call 1 purple container a serving size plus 2 teaspoons for the peanut butter. I hope this helps!

I’m so excited I found this recipe! I just now made it and can’t wait to taste it this evening. What is the serving size and which the container is it?

How would you count this towards your containers?

1 purple container plus 2 teaspoons. 🙂

Hello. DO you know how many servings this is supose to make?

It makes about 6-8 servings. Of course it depends on how many ‘scoops’ you have in one serving. But we had about 2 scoops per person at our house (6 people).

I haven’t tried these Ice Creams yet. This looks kind of interesting. I do like bananas and am anxious to try this. Thanks for sharing at What’s Cookin’ Wednesday.

Looks so amazing! Thanks for sharing at the Inspiration Spotlight party. Pinned & Shared. Happy Holidays!

Is this suppose to be for one of the three treats per week? I don’t see honey, cocoa or almond milk as part of the 21 day fix diet.
