I participated in this sponsored “Give a Minute, Help Make-a-Wish” campaign for One2One Network. All opinions are my own.
Straight Talk (a “no contract” cell phone provider, yay!) is making it easy for you to support the Make-A-Wish foundation and help kids with the “Give a Minute, Help Make-a-Wish” program. All it takes is a minute of your time…that’s it, a minute – and Straight Talk will donate a dollar to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Make-a-Wish foundation, it’s an organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. You can see examples of some of the wishes that have been granted here, but I’ve had my own experience with the Make-a-Wish foundation that I’d like to share to give you an idea of what the organization does.
Years ago, I worked at a Therapeutic Riding Center, where I gave lessons to children with differing abilities. I also managed the care of the horses. A local child suffering a life-threatening illness had wished that she could be a veterinarian. They brought her to the center, which also housed a state-of-the-art equine hospital, for a facility tour and some hands-on experience. Because the horses in the hospital were all privately-owned, they brought her over to our barn – with our therapeutic riding horses – for a chance to touch a pony and perform some medical check-ups on him while she was at it.
I showed her how to listen to his heartbeat, check his pulse, and perform a few other minor horse first-aid checks. I remember thinking, “This little girl wants to be a vet when she grows up, but nobody knows if she will even get the chance to grow up.”
And I realized what an awesome and hope-fueling organization Make-a-Wish really is.
I love that Straight Talk has chosen the Make-a-Wish foundation to receive their donations!
Straight Talk is a no-contract cell phone service available exclusively at Walmart. Every Saturday in September, they will donate $1 for every person who takes a minute to learn about Straight Talk when they are visiting Walmart (and if you’re like me, it’s very likely that you will, indeed, be in a Walmart on at least one Saturday this month!).
But if you don’t live near a Walmart (whaaat?), you can still participate!
Straight Talk will donate a dollar every time the video on StraightTalkWish.com is shared (you can find and easily share the video here).
Straight Talk has pledged a minimum of donation of $500,000, but will donate up to $1,000,000 (and last year, they reached their goal of one million dollars!).
If you’re unfamiliar with Straight Talk (I was, until recently), here is some information that might pique your interest:
- Straight Talk partners with existing wireless networks nationwide.
- Straight Talk has all of the same great phones as the contract carries, including name brands like Samsung, Apple, Windows and LG.
- Straight Talk offers the same networks and the same phones at half the cost.
- Straight Talk provides service in more zip codes than any other wireless carrier and reaches more than 300 million Americans.
So, if you’re near a Walmart this weekend – or have a spare minute to watch and share a video – I hope you’ll participate and help Straight Talk raise $1,000,000 for Make-a-Wish with the “Give a Minute, Help Make-a-Wish” campaign!
Will you be stopping by the Straight Talk booth at a Walmart near you?
