Cooking with Grammie: Quick Ham & Cheese Quiche

When I was pregnant with Claire, I asked my mom and my mother-in-law both to cook some of my favorite meals so I’d have food in the house.  One of the things I requested from my mother-in-law Grammie) was a breakfast quiche.  And today, I made it myself – and I’m going to share with you Grammie’s Quick Ham and Cheese Quiche recipe.

If you’ve ever read one of my “cooking” posts before, you know that I can’t cook.  So whenever I bring one of Grammie’s recipes to my blog, it’s got to be easy to make. And this?  Is only 5 ingredients, and takes just a few minutes to prep and only 30 minutes to cook.

It’s delicious for breakfast but I could eat this all day long.

Grammie’s Quick Ham & Cheese Quiche

Ingredients:

- 1 1/2 cups milk

- 3/4 cups Bisquick

- 3 eggs

- 1 cup shredded cheese

- 3/4 pound diced ham (we asked for thick-sliced ham at the deli counter and I just cut it up into little pieces)

Time Involved

10-15 minutes prep time and 30 minutes to cook

Servings

4? 8? It’s probably supposed to be 8, but more like 4 around here.

How to Make It

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Combine milk, Bisquick and eggs using a mixer.  Stir in the shredded cheese (yum, cheese).

Grease a 10″ pie plate, and pour in the mixture. Sprinkle the ham over the top.

Cook for 30 minutes.  Let it cool for a few minutes before cutting into it.

A note on the pie plate…per Grammie, you might want to put a cookie sheet on the rack below the quiche in the oven in case it spills over (I used a larger pie plate so I didn’t have this problem, but it did rise up quite a bit and were I using the 10″ pie plate, I could see this happening!).

Annnnd there you have it!  Quick Ham & Cheese Quiche that anyone can make (even me!).  I’ve made this before without the ham (it turned out great, and the kids loved it)…and you could just as easily add some veggies.

Enjoy, and…I’ll have more from Grammie in the next couple of weeks!
